Custom Spray Tan

Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes. You can book an appointment on our website or call us.

How do I prepare for my Spray Tan?

Shower, shave and exfoliate the night before your spray tan.

What should I stay away from on the day of my tan?

Avoid lotions, deodorant, oils, and perfum.

How long do I wait before I can rinse after my spray tan?

Always wait 6-8 hours post spray to rinse. Your first rinse should be in lukewarm water.

What do I wear for the spray tan?

We provide a cap and disposal thongs, if you are looking for more coverage please bring an old suit (men please bring boxer briefs or swim trunks)

What do I wear after my spray tan?

Have something comfortable and preferably dark to wear after your session, including flip flops.

How long should my first rinse be?

Keep showers short and sweet

What are some other post spray tips?

Avoid shampoo with sulfates and avoid scrubbing. Always pat dry when toweling off. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Ask about our products to extend the life of your tan :)

VersaSpa®Spray Tan

What is the VersaSpa® Tan Booth?

The VersaSpa® Tan booth is a private self spray unit that employs a spray process to apply a uniform amount of tanning spray to the entire body in just seconds.

What should I wear for my VersaSpa® tan?

Our VersaSpa® room is private so most don't wear anything to get the all-over tan. This is up to you. If you do wear a bathing suit or undergarment, please be aware that whatever you wear may be stained.

I have fair skin. Will the VersaSpa® tanning booth give me a tan?

Yes. The VersaSpa® tanning booth was designed for this.

What should I expect when I come out of the spray booth?

By the time you step out of the booth most of the spray will have dried but there may still be a few moist areas. This remaining moisture can be removed by pat drying those areas with a towel.

How long do I have to wait after a tanning session before I can shower?

We recommend that you wait four to six hours after tanning to give the DHA enough time to fully set. When you do shower the initial tan created by the water-soluble bronzer will wash off, but the DHA will remain and create your long term tan.

How long after a spray tanning session before I can put my clothes back on?

Once you have towel dried there is little chance of the bronzer or DHA getting on your clothes. Any physical activity after your VersaSpa® tanning session may cause some of the bronzer to transfer to your clothing. The bronzer is completely water-soluble and it should wash out.

Do I need to cover my hair while tanning in the VersaSpa® tanning booth?

Some customers wear disposable shower caps (provided by the salon) to keep the solution from getting in their hair. Other customers tan without covering their hair.

If I do a VersaSpa® tan, can I also tan in tanning beds and in the sun?

Yes. There is nothing in the VersaSpa® tanning solution that would prevent you from tanning in tanning beds or the sun. A VersaSpa® tan does not give you any protection from UV rays.

Red Light Therapy

Does the Red Light tan?

No, the Red Light Therapy lamps do not transmit any UV light.

Can I do Red Light Therapy the same day I tan?

Yes, in fact, it is recommended that Red Light be used prior to tanning. It not only increases circulation but promotes the oxidation of melanin which helps you maximize your tan.

What do I apply on my skin before my session?

We recommend that you prep your skin before Red Light exposure with Red Light specific products. By establishing your skin’s proper pH you will maximize therapeutic benefits.

Is there a minimum age requirement?

There is no legal age requirement, however, parental guidance is suggested for younger individuals.

Do I need protective eyewear?

Due to the intensity of the lamps, eye protection is recom-mended for comfort. Sanitized eyewear is provided with each session.

How soon will I notice results?

You will begin to feel the benefits after the first session. As far as physical changes, these occur naturally over a period of weeks. Typical results are noticed after 3 weeks of continued use, but results may vary.

Tanning Beds and Stand Up/Super Bed Tanning

Do I need an appointment?

No. For traditional tanning, an appointment is not necessary at Tropitana. We make tanning quick and convenient and that's why our clients keeping coming back to us. However, you do need an appointment for a Custom Spray Tan. This is a custom service where a certified technician must be available.

How long does it take to get a tan?

Your tan will begin to deepen within 3-5 sessions, depending upon the amount of melanin within your skin. Consider adding a custom spray tan to your sessions to achieve a darker appearance more quickly.

Do I need to protect my lips?

Yes, protect them with lip balms or sunscreen.

Can I tan twice in one day or two days in a row?

No, it against the law. Plus, it's not good for you!

Is it safe to wear contacts while tanning?

We suggest removing your contacts before tanning.

What do I wear in the bed?

Remove your makeup, jewelry and avoid wearing heavy perfumes or essential oils. Once you’re set up with a private and secure tanning room, undress to your level of comfort. If you choose to be nude, be sure to cover areas not typically exposed to the sun.

Do you provide eye protection? Is it necessary?

Yes. The FDA requires protection for the eyes. We provide protective goggles for all our clients.

Can I use any lotion I want while tanning?

No, indoor tanning lotions are formulated specifically for use with tanning equipment. Ask one of our experts on what lotion best fits your needs.

How do I keep my glow longer?

Using a tanning extender is the best way to ensure long-lasting results. Tropitana has an assortment of tanning products that hydrate skin and help that golden glow last longer.

Is there tanning instruction for my “skin type”?

Our staff will help you determine your skin type and recommend a tanning regimen based on this. We will consult you on the type of equipment that best fits your needs.

I have an event and only want a certain part of my body tan. Is this possible?

Yes. Let us know what you'd like to accomplish and we'll do everything we can to make it possible.

My event is this weekend. Is it possible to achieve a tan?

Yes. There are a few factors but you can definitely feel confident knowing you'll leave our salon a few shades darker.

Will the spray tan get on my Wedding dress?

As long as you follow our post tan instructions you're good to go... and that goes for any type of clothing.

I have crazy tan lines and my event is around the corner. Can you help?
